We the Sovereign People and American Bald Eagle, Text in Graduated Gold, on a Black or Navy Blue Shirt

On the shirt front appears the significant expression, new to political and American history, We the Sovereign People, with an American bald eagle adorned in elements of the American flag in the background and over the top of the text expression.

On the shirt rear appears a modified expression of a core, universal political maxim from leading 20th century Thomist philosopher Jacques Maritain that belongs to the metaphysics (the nature of reality and how it is constituted) of the natural law.   In "Man and the State" Maritain observes (using two Latin phrases), "The political authority of the people is imago Dei (the image of God).  The authority of government is imago populi (the image of the people)."  (The expression on the shirt is entirely in English.)  In his books Christianity and Democracy and the Rights of Man and the Natural Law and Man and the State, Maritain makes the most profound observation capable of being made about our human rights and how high their authority:  "Our natural rights, as the divinely-authored natural law, are not just our rights.  They represent God's right for his law to be fulfilled."  Because our natural rights are the divinely-authored natural or moral law, the People's natural rights bear the stamp of and hold divine authority, the authority of God's law, which divinely-authored natural law, as St. Thomas Aquinas observes (Summa Theologiae), is unalterable and irremovable by man, which is to hold the highest authority that there is.  The sovereignty of the People is thus imago Dei; and because the authority in the possession of government is the People's authority, entrusted to government as a concession or permission to use it to protect and promote the People's rights and good, the authority of government is imago populi.
